WOSODA Trail Camera Review: An Easy Wildlife Camera That Captured a Coyote at Night

One of the coolest things about a trail camera is getting to see what happens outside when you are not there.

I recently set up the WOSODA Rechargeable Trail Camera, and during one of my first tests I captured a coyote walking through at night.

That immediately made this camera a lot more interesting to me.

It is simple to use, comes with the main accessories you need to get started, records locally to an included SD card, and gives you both daytime and night wildlife monitoring without needing a complicated connected security system.

Ready to Use Right Out of the Box

One of the biggest things I liked about this camera was how complete the package felt.

It includes:

  • rechargeable internal battery
  • 32GB SD card
  • mounting strap
  • USB charging cable
  • mounting hardware
  • LCD screen
  • local photo and video storage

That means you do not have to immediately go buy batteries or a memory card before you can start using it.

For a trail camera, that convenience is a big plus.

Night Wildlife Footage

My first real test was setting the camera up outside at night.

I ended up capturing a coyote moving through the area, and the footage looked nice and clear.

That is exactly the type of result I wanted from a wildlife camera.

You set it up, leave it alone, and later get to see what passed through while you were gone or asleep.

For camping especially, I think this could be really fun around a campsite.

40MP Photos and 2K Video

The camera supports up to 40MP still photos and 2K video.

For wildlife observation, scouting, and general outdoor monitoring, that gives you plenty of detail for identifying animals and seeing what is happening around the area.

I was happy with the night footage I captured, and I am looking forward to seeing what else it catches in different environments.

Motion Detection

The camera is designed to trigger when movement is detected.

That means you do not have to record continuously and fill the memory card with hours of nothing happening.

Instead, it waits for activity and then records when something moves through the monitored area.

That is one of the main reasons this type of camera works so well for wildlife.

Easy Setup

The camera opens from the front, giving you access to the controls and screen.

There is an LCD display that helps with:

  • aiming
  • settings
  • photo options
  • video options
  • timelapse
  • reviewing configuration

Once everything is set, you switch it into recording mode and leave it in position.

The interface is straightforward enough that I was able to figure it out quickly.

Mounting Options

The included strap makes temporary setup very easy.

You can attach the camera to:

  • a tree
  • pole
  • fence
  • other secure outdoor object

For the coyote footage, I mounted mine outdoors using the strap.

The kit also includes a more permanent mounting plate with an adjustable swivel mount, which is useful if you have a specific location around your home or property where you want to leave it.

Rechargeable Battery

I also like that this model uses a rechargeable battery instead of requiring disposable batteries.

That makes it more convenient for repeat use, especially if I am taking it on camping trips or moving it between different locations.

There is also an external DC power input if you have a location where a more permanent power source makes sense.

What I Like

The biggest positives for me are:

  • easy setup
  • ready to use out of the box
  • included 32GB SD card
  • rechargeable battery
  • good night footage
  • LCD setup screen
  • multiple mounting options
  • useful accessories
  • local recording

What I Don’t Like

The main downside is the physical build.

The plastic body feels a little less premium than I would ideally like.

It works, and it is designed for outdoor use, but it does not have the same substantial feel that you might get from a higher-end trail camera.

For the price and features, that may be an acceptable tradeoff.

Who This Is For

This is a good fit for:

  • campers
  • wildlife enthusiasts
  • hunters and scouts
  • property owners
  • livestock owners
  • people monitoring outdoor areas
  • anyone curious about nighttime animal activity

Who Should Skip It

This may not be the best choice for:

  • someone who wants a premium security camera system
  • users who need live remote viewing
  • people looking for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity
  • anyone who wants app-based notifications

This is primarily a local-recording trail camera, not a connected smart-security camera.

Camping Use

This is where I am especially interested in using it.

I want to bring it on future camping trips and mount it around the campsite to see what wildlife moves through when we are sleeping or away from camp.

That could make for some really interesting footage.

It also adds another dimension to outdoor trips because you get to see wildlife behavior that you probably would never catch in person.

Security Use

This can also work as a simple outdoor monitoring camera.

For areas around:

  • property
  • livestock
  • gates
  • sheds
  • trails

it can provide motion-triggered local footage without requiring a full security system.

I would not replace a dedicated security setup with it, but for secondary outdoor monitoring, it has a lot of potential.

Final Verdict

The WOSODA Rechargeable Trail Camera is a good option for someone who wants a straightforward wildlife camera without a complicated setup.

It comes ready to use, captures clear night footage, includes local storage, and offers plenty of flexibility for mounting and configuration.

The plastic construction could feel more premium, but functionally it has done what I wanted.

My verdict: a solid value trail camera for wildlife watching, camping, scouting, and basic outdoor monitoring.
